Forest BU10 Red Kick Off Season at the Forest Memorial Day Cup

The Notts Forest BU10 Red team have kicked off their 2008 season with a solid showing at the Inaugural Forest Memorial Day Cup. For being the 1st tournament of the season, the boys played very well against three solid teams: Arsenal FC BU9 White, Arsenal FC BU9 South, and Carlsbad Lightning Red. They started off the tournament with a great 3-1 victory over Arsenal FC BU9 White. In their next match, they produced a very gutsy effort as they held the eventual tournament champions, Arsenal FC BU9 South, to a 0-0 draw. The final match of the tournament saw them come up short against a very skilled, big and physical Carlsbad Lightning team, which they were unlucky in losing to 3-0. The match vs Carlsbad was a lot closer than the final score would indicate, with the game being a 1-0 affair right before halftime and Carlsbad scoring two late goals in the game's closing minutes.

Coach Marvin Tarroja says that "The boys showed a lot of potential in this tournament as a team. They produced great results for a team that was missing three key players for this tournament and a team that hasn't really had a lot of time to practice together. I can't wait to see what this team can accomplish when we have our full squad together, have practiced together consistently, and are in form."

Their next tournament opportunity will be at the Pegasus Cup on June 28th and 29th.
