Congratulations to our own AC Churness & Harley Wahl both players at NFFC since 7 years Old.
Nott’s Forest is the best foundational soccer club San Diego has to offer. I started playing at NFFC when I was 7 years old under Eric Carlson and quickly connected with a team of guys who, to this day, remain some of my best friends. Through the Forest system, we became smarter and more technically sound than any of our opponents. As we got older, the coaching of David Banks and Erik Andersen lead us to the top level of soccer in the nation. We began to win league and big tournaments such as Nomads Cup, Albion Cup, and the Manchester City America’s Cup which ultimately got us college exposure. This exposure allowed me to draw attention from over 15 college coaches across the nation. As the signing deadline closed in, I decided I wanted to play at University of San Diego with my best friend AC. The problem was, the USD staff hadn’t gotten the chance to watch me play much. After attending a USD camp, the head coach called to offer me a spot on their team. On the call, he told me that a conversation with David Banks was the deciding factor to offer one of their last roster spots to me. Nott’s Forest F.C has shaped me into the player, teammate, and person I am today. I am eternally grateful that Nott’s Forest F.C has given me the opportunity to live out my dream and play Division I soccer in San Diego with my best friend.
AC Curness comments:
I have played at Nott’s Forest F.C since I was 7 years old. Through my first coach, Eric Carlson, we “learned to play the Forest way.” Over time, we became more technically sound and tactically aware than our opponents, and it showed on the field. As we got older, our new coaches Erik Andersen David Banks lead us to play at the highest level of soccer in the nation. We played in the most competitive league and won multiple big tournaments. Our success brought exposure to college scouts looking for talent that they want to bring to their school. With the help of David Banks, I got in contact with the USD coach and expressed my desire to play for him. Coach Banks put in a good word which helped me start off my communications with USD on a very high note. After the USD coach watched some of my games, he wanted me on his team. I don’t think I would be in the place I am today without the help of everyone at Nott’s Forest. They shaped me into the player and person I am today. I am very thankful that Nott’s has given me the opportunity to play division 1 soccer in San Diego with my teammate, Harley.
