CONGRATS GIRLS!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE G'03 - QUARTER FINALISTS

Starting off with our very talented Hybrid girls Team !! Moving into state Cup we had 12 returning players and no goalie , we were able to bring on 5 field players and a goalie, that will continue with us this next season as well ! I was able to work with them for 5 weeks before traveling to Lancaster for the first round of the Cup !!
First game the girls came out fired up but soon realized it would be a bit more work than expected and took a awhile to get into a rhythm!

After going down 2-0 before  halftime the girls came  off the field with blank looks on their faces !! Coach gave them a stern half time speech to send them back out to the trenches well motivated  !!

Feeling a little less optimistic, the girls pleasantly surprised everyone as the Nott's girls took control of the game and started to pressure our opponents, Revolution, and were able to put a couple of goals to even the score , to our delight we were able to place one more in with 5 minutes to spare for a great victory  !!

Asa we headed into the second game, the girls were spent from fighting back in the earlier match and went down 2-0 again early on but fought very hard to even if before half !!

With 2 minutes left in the game we had a cracker of a shot come from an outside mid to win the match 3-2 once again !! With that said, the team went into the final match as the first seed still needing a victory to move on the next round .

The girls played very hard and with their technical skill were able to go 1-0 at half. In the second half the girls took control and put 3 more beautiful goals to win 4-0 and move onto the round of 32 as the first seed in their bracket. The girls were fired up to play a very feisty Liverpool team.  The girls gained an early lead and then add  another to go 2-0 up at half.  Liverpool didn’t back down as they came back after the interval to score an early goal. With the Liverpool team pressing high, Coach Corey made a few changes in midfield to solidify the win. The girls were able to put a 3rd goal in to crush any chances of a come back which resulted in a 3-1 win and advancing to the Rd of 16!!

As the team moved onto the round of 16. The girls were having a tough time finding the net but their persistence paid off when they were awarded numerous free kicks which resulted in 3 goals from  about 35 yard out !! Great shots !!  Victory 3-1.

Moving into the quarters the girls were ready but were a little depleted due to injuries especially defensively. The girls battled and created many chances as the game went back n forth. The Riverside team snuck one past our keeper on the near post before halftime but the girls continued to fight and punish the goal but unfortunatly were unable to equal the 1-0 loss.

Coach Corey said " I was very proud of the way the girls performed and progressed over the previous 2 weekend’s . My ambition was to continue moving on in the cup. The girls did an amazing job getting to the quarterfinals, scoring 16 goals and only giving up 7 in 6 games !!! Well done Notts !!
I’m Looking forward to seeing this team come together and really grow as unit !!!
